Week 6: First Paragraph
Aetna's strong commitment to children's health in Texas, especially in underserved neighborhoods, is well demonstrated through programs such as 5-4-3-2-1-Go! Your commitment to physical activity as a key component of lifelong health is setting Texas children on a strong path early in life. BikeTexas shares this commitment; we've trained 4000 Texas teachers who have reached over two million children statewide with bicycle safety education. Part of BikeTexas' education component is a non-competitive bike race series for children up to age 12, which is free of charge to participants. BikeTexas would like to expand the series to include more races in Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston, and to increase our outreach to children in low-income and minority communities to engage more families and show underserved children in major Texas cities the joy of bike riding to start them on a lifelong habit of physical activity.

ReplyDeleteEnjoyed reviewing your memos. Notes coming on both of them. For #2:
- you have considered the needs of BikeTexas closely, and I agree, applying on their behalf to the New Belgium Brewing Company makes good sense; seems to me your mission statements match up well
- if you wanted to, the component part of Wellness Rides could be a good angle; something to focus in on
- excellent lead on testimonials; what have you found from analyzing those? Are there was to make connections to Belgium's mission statement? is what New Belgium has granted in the past relatable to those testimonials?
- any luck getting previous awardees' application copies for your review and study?
Excellent work.
On your first memo:
ReplyDeleteIt's okay to work with New Belgium for both projects. I believe I mentioned that earlier. Just in case, though... I like in this memo that you have some good numbers. I suspect if you can gather numbers from BikeTexas and share those in your 1% proposal, that would go over well. Good thinking about applying information for BikeTexas to submit as they will, whenever. Perhaps a listing of additional RFPs, too, would be helpful to go with that. Nice to see you've done research work with the Executive Director. Good to get that person on board. Nice to see you're devoting time to this.
Approved!
